Fresh everything,
We need fresh everything in life. Fresh air, fresh ideas, fresh food, fresh body, fresh leaders, fresh elections etc. It is very hard to get everything fresh. I am just suprized that both ODM and PNU have no fresh leaders. Abu is proving as usual to be the acad emic activist full of speeches but nothing to back him. But I can see a fresh kind of leadership compared to his predcessor.
The only consistent defenders of peoples freedom (not murderers) include, Paul Muite, Koigi Wamwere, Raila, Nyongo, Martin Shikuku, others are just tribal animals.

The fresh election issue can only arise if we have either of the two things happening;
1.) If ODM and PNU can come to an amicable solution and divide govt structures as agreed in the national reconciliation accord then we can have an election in 2012 as usual OR
2.) I f the impasse as being experienced right now persist then what we need is the overhaul of the electrol commission a new one put in place and within a year or two we should go back to the election to legitimise leadership i the country.

though i understandas a person from central province that the govt appointments are skewed towards mt. Kenya region you will appreciate that there are also people from that area that have stuck with the ODM dream of a better equitable country and that dream should be kept alive at all cost.
Despite calls for change and fresh of everything by the Orange Democratic Movement, the movement could save the remaining credibility by STOPPING to destroy property and livelihoods, burn people’s homes and properties, maim and kill people, then blame it on others everytime there is a political issue in the country. That might tell the world that the movement’s followers have some sense of responsibility, and not just a band of hooligans.
What level of reasoning would some movement’s followers have in burning people’s homes in Rift valley, subject them to living in tents, then start demanding that resettlement of these Kenyans be on condition that cabinet posts are announced.
What level of reasoning in destroying a railway line?. To eat the metal or? Supposing some wagons transporting fertilizer to north rift derails. Would the farmers there blame the government?
The over 20million Kenyans who do not care party affiliations, some too young, others unwell and all they care is their health, need peace, not destruction and destabilisation of their country by some destructive elements.
On elections, the ongoing commission of inquiry on elections courtesy ODM is on tax payers money.
Fresh elections may be a good idea but,
What happens to the electorate whose cards were burnt, destroyed or stolen?. How do the thousands of electorate and who have a legal right to vote but displaced from their homes vote?
How many people have the strength to make those long lines?.
Would the MPS also be re-elected?
I dont expect anybody who refuses to share power to relingush it instead. The people who planned the electoral fraud, the cabinet stalemate and the police massacre wouldnt accept. So i as much as people may think its the best way out , i honestly dont believe so. Instead as KK has consistently said the constitution is the issue. By allowing for a refenderum after the constitution we will have a mini election bcoz as usual there will be a No and Yes.
More important I dont recommend anybody to contemplate elections under Kihara Mutu and the prisons cum presidents lawyer. If they stay put you would rather not vote
ODMers, the ‘pink’ fellow in the name of US Ambassador in kenya, Michael, is now equating Kenyan MPs with kindergarten kids. So when ODM and RAO keep running to these fellows for help, at least the ambassador has said loudly how he views them, like kindergarten kids. “Mk has done this to us, MK is doing that, come, help, freeze aid, I want to be a minister, another raises their hands,etc”. Once RAO and the pentagon leave these pink fellow’s offices, the fellows are left behind laughing.
Communism as usual, I now feel the way newsmen feel when they are subjected to media gag and regulations. I did not know how the media felt when Michuki ordered a stop to carying live broadcast for a whole whopping month.
Rafiq, is given the greenlight to spit all he wants but for us outsiders, we feel the way you feel when not allowed to see the president or get some hearings.
I said again, when hangers on politicians are removed from the scene, the two Kenyan leaders will take this country far. We expect that Muthaura and Isihakia will now issue a joint statement on the way forward and especially as the new cabinet is unveiled tomorrow. Some politicians on both sides will be in for a big shock. The total ministers will be between 24 and 30. Thanks for the sanity of the two. I am sure no hate will follow this historic meeting. We do not want ministers from the same tribe to dominate the nation. Full stop.
You do not give up in a fight for freedom and justice. We need new election of the mind not of the country. I was for immediate elections. But since the majority of Kenyans are now concerned with peace and work, I withdraw my push for new elections and instead embark on rebuilding and empowering my fellow IDPs. I do not bulldoz my ideas like a fool.

That is great news for Kenya. Hon. Raila Odinga is not the type of person to undermine. He respects “Jaduong”. I have watched Raila over the years and I remember very well what he said in Kisumu during Moi’s last official visit to Kisumu.
Raila asked the residents of Kisumu and its environs to respect Moi since he was the one with the bride. Raila’s words have resonated with me to date and have convinced me that Raila is a man who respects “Jaduong”.
It is my sincere hope that these words will reassure President Kibaki so that he can shut out fitina and together with Raila build the Kenya Kenyans are dreaming of.
It has been a period of sleepless nights for many Kenyans in Kenya and abroad, who care for a Kenya for all Kenyans by all Kenyans, since late December last year.
It is my prayer and hope that we can now focus our energies on the business of building Kenya, directly or indirectly, and by all means possible.
In conclusion, I congratulate President Kibaki and PM Raila for doing Kenya good and all Kenyans everywhere, I am sure, will respond by according both leaders the respect and support that are due them.

I do not support the call for fresh elections in the current constitution and the electoral commission. These two institutions must be reformed first before we call for another election. We must also ask ourselves what will happen in the interim. MK will continue to govern with his troup of ministers while ODM is out in the cold. He can decide to drag his feet as long as it suits him best. Unless we have a way to force him to call the elections immediately which I dought.
We have earned the right to be in this governemnt in whatever form and we should not abdicate it to anyone. We have killed the politics of patronage in ODM and now we should work hard to extend it to our brothers in PNU & ODMK who still thrive on handouts from the institution of fraudlent presidency. So let us take up our rightful place in the government and strive to reform the electoral commission, the Judiciary, the police force and bring about a new constitutional dispensation.
RAO and ODM now have a legal platform to serve Kenyans as they prepare for the next elections to claim back what is rightfully theirs.
Kudos to Kenyans you have stopped Kenya from degenerating into another Zimbabwe and did not resort to the legal process which is a farce like the Nigerians and Ugandans did. We have told off the ‘president’ and stopped him from toying around with our country like Mugabe has done in the past 28 years. If we had kept quiet like lambs waiting to be slaughtered this man would now be campaigning for a change in the constitution to allow him a third term. Every person has the freedom to fight for a course and I think that is what you guys are up to. However, when some people turns that battle into hatred and use of double standard to gauge those who are more Kenyans than others, then that becomes a problem. For example, is this forum meant to be a place for sycohants or a citadel of exachanging ideas? Let me tell you how I ended up here. I continued for a very long time to post my blogg without success- because of the posts that I read concerning “kikuyu bashing”. I was offended especially after the burning live (at stake) in Eldoret. I had a moral duty to enter the fray and correct that assumption because it was based on the wrong premise. I do not think that the defence of my half people is based at any given time an exotic love for the Agikuyu, rather it is based on the understanding that they are part and parcel of this great country.
Secondly, I am not a pacifist. I believe that nations and tribes have a right to defend themselves against aggression. Thus when a community is threatened because of political arguments/disagreement and actually they are killed, they have a right to defend themselves. After reading this blogg for a while, I cannot doubt that the view of other leader’s tribes is that the Agikuyu are the problem in Kenya. But then the question comes, do the Kikuyu have a right to democratic process? Why target them for expressing their God-given rights? Why always talk of the need to respect or be loyalty when they settle in RV? If most of us were asked to respect and be loyal to the people we visit in their land (europe and America), we would be thrown out. But our white brothers are tolerant with us.
Now, then do I hate other tribes? Not at all. Infact most of my friends have been from other parts of Kenya in Kibera to Eastalands. And by the way, most of us who have been Eastlanders to not understand our mother tongues as we do swahili. We never reasoned from a tribal perspective. But then, our leaders have reminded our youth to use both the power of the ballot and the matchetes. Yet when I post that on this blogg, you end up deleting it.
Finally, do I have hope in Kenya? Absolutely, this country is stronger than our evil self. Can you imagine only a small clique of politicians are ready to send this nation to doom simply because of their greed for power? Yet, the reselient of my brothers and sisters will culminate in a better and prosperous Kenya where as before, I may go and settle in Bungoma without the fear of goons attacking me.

When news reporters keep talking about first grand coalition, have they forgotten about the previous parliament where the cabinet had mps from all political parties NARC, KANU, FORD-P, etc
( wasn’t that a grand coalition government )etc. Its yet to be proven if RAO will stick in government given that he is naturally in the opposition.
Its a disgrace that some of our leaders are still colonised in their minds. They have to keep running to Germany, America, etc for political solutions.

As we celebrate the birth of a renewed Kenya, a Kenya governed by a re-invented and re-engineered way of government, I take this opportunity to re-examine my words and deeds of the last few months.
As the curtain falls on the political and personal tussles of the last few months, my conscience will be troubled if I do not seek forgiveness from you, Mzee Moi. I am sorry for any abusive words that I have used against you.
I am not naive as to dismiss as inconsequential all wrongs that have been committed againts you, Mzee Moi, by Kalenjins, including myself. I ask the Kalenjin elders – Hon. Henry Kosgei and Hon. Kipkalya Kones – to arrange for a delegation of elders to visit Mzee Moi and seek his forgiveness on behalf of the Kalenjin community.
Before I conclude, Mzee Moi, I have one request to make. As you remember very well, the Maasai people honoured you with a gift of land when you became the president of Kenya in 1978.
I have been watching the plight of the Maasai people over he years. Land is getting smaller to support their nomadic way of life. Drought occassioned by climate change and the increasing deforestation and stress on land have combined to make life increasingly hard for the Maasai people.
I am taking this opportunity, Mzee Moi, to request you to donate that land that the Maasai people gave you in 1978 (or was it 1979?) back to them so that Maasai Heritage University can be build on it.
The university will speacialize in teaching and research on Kenyan culture (Maasai in particular), sustainability of nomadic way of life, livestock development in an arid envronment, health, agriculture, forestation of an arid land, water resources, environment and climate change, wildlife and tourism, and technology.
The Maasai people have given so much to the world. I believe that in every city and town in every nation, one will find some Maasai memorabilia and reminder. It is time the world gave back to the Maasai people.
I foresee the Maasai Heritage university as an international university, supported by a trust fund that has branches throughout the world. I also foresee the Maasai Heritage university as a unique university where top world scholars will take some residence to come and do some research and teaching for free in exchange for a free tourism ride in Maasai Mara game reserve.
Australia has unmatched expertise in livestock development and I am sure they will not be reluctant to help set up a teaching research facility on livestock developmennt in arid ad semi-arid conditions.
The Maasai Heritage university will be a private and public partnership within Kenya with an international flavour fronted by UNESCO. It will be managed by a board of trustees with overseas branches with the chair of that board of trustees and a substantial membership of the Board being Maasai people themselves.
The board will market the university as a unique combination of work and tourism for international scholars. The Maasai Heritage university should also attempt to attract even the CDC in Atlanta to have a permanent station there.
If, Mzee Moi, you can donate the land back to the Maasai to have a university build there, you will have done a great thing for the Maasai people and for all Kenyans.
A portion of the land could be used to build a shopping centre and hospital to be named Ole Moi town and hospital.
Mzee Moi, God has blessed you abundantly. You have had everything. Remember, Mzee Moi, that IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE (ACTS 20:35).

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru once apologized to former president Moi on behalf of others for the humiliation shown in 2002. Moi forgave everyone before he left the big position. As I said before, this man foresaw the problems we are facing today and nobody listened to his wise counsel. Had the former president sorrounded himself with the right people, then things would have worked differently.
I am glad that president Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have taken this opportunity to reconcile this nation. This is just the beginning of the long healing process and we should jump into the occasion to re-write history.
One thing I have learnt from the whole process, that when we put sycophancy aside, we can build a great nation.

There is talk of some ministers being more powerful than others but i think that is not necessarily true especially if this cabinet and all MPs attempt to deliver services and real change.
in all fairness this balancing act was a difficult task to be all inclusive and on this i congratulate MK and RAO together with whoever assisted in working out the formula to give the (sadly bloated) cabinet a representative face of Kenya and achieving this balance. I would however still believe that a boycott of swearing in ceremony to protest the bloated cabinet is still in order.
Hope the next phase of institutional reforms embarks in full swing followed by constitutional reforms.
Regrettably, there is still room for mischief and nothing stops Kibaki with or without consultation with RAO from appointing more Asst Ministers or Ministers, but I can only hope that wont happen.

Is there a possibility that some small tribes were marginalized. For example, Asman Kamama and Wilfred Machage were demoted to accomodate others. They represent the Pokot and the Kuria people. While the Turkanan have John Munyes of FORD-K, I feel that the small tribes were once again sidelined. I think the issue of Cabinet should be addressed comprehensively and the offices of MPs made in the level of Senate so that all representitives will be carrying the mantle of a tribes.
While I applaud the gesture to return Kenya to sanity, I believe that some major tribes got a big share of the cake compared to others (ie Luo, Kikuyu, Kalenjin). I hope the smaller tribes will be rewarded in the ambassadoria and provincial administration appointments if they have qualified people. The Kuria people have well educated people (like professor Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha and others).

politics is politics. Remember that both PNU and ODM had those they felt they should reward. That is the weight of the new cabinet. Kibaki had an obligation to Soita Shitanda and Moses Wentangula and maybe Musikari Kombo. This was also true of Raila. Fortunately, Raila had the manouvrebaility with only 5 assured posts and the likes of Henry Koskei, Sally Kosgei and Kipkalia Kones (he did very well on roads during Moi’s time. Then he was fired. I know he can do it again and suprise everybody). So lets wait and see.
The men to watch before 2012- Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Uhuru Kenyatta, George Saitoti and William Rutoh. The best pair will emerge victorous and you never know how this will play out.

The political/govt administrative unit is the constituency, and if there are communities not well represented then they need to agitate for boundary redefinition of the current boundaries if that will help further their cause for appointment or inclusion to cabinet and other govt organs.
it could probably be unfeasible to make a blanket law for inclusion since this would likely be in conflict with some other considerations but your point is well taken, that indeed there are still some communities being elbowed out in the struggle for dominance by some other larger communities.
On the other hand, if all institutions were elevated to higher levels of non-partisan and citizen driven service performance, then it matters little who is serving or heading the public service or executive/cabinet since the quality of service will be uniform/standard (and hopefully highest quality) across the board minimising need for ethnic in-fighting. the biggest problem is a person or individual messing up and abusing position of authority and then cronies, ethnic or other communities (business or social) coalescing around the individual ostensibly to protect him/her and the so called community interest or stake.
it appears that we as kenyans still have some way to go to break that mould and its unclear whether the loyalty is community driven or just plain madness and greed. some have outgrown some of these traits but its those that still subscribe to such mentality that will continually pull down any upward mobility. but am sure you have your own views and values on this

We want to move on as a nation and as a people. Kenyans have had their fair share of election fiasco and its high time we put our heads together and charted the way forward.
Often times we do not get everything that we want, so its better we start from somewhere and end up into that place that we want to be. Who in Kenya today wouldn’t wish for a peaceful nights’ sleep without the nightmares of IDP’s hoovering over your head like some bad breath?

2. Appoint Francis Ole Kaparo as Chair of the Electoral Commission of Kenya – Action by President Kibaki and PM Raila (The continued retention of Samwel Kivuithu as Chair is both annoying and an impediment to healing of political and social wounds)
3. Appoint Francis Ole Kaparo as Chair of the Maasai Heritage university Board of Trustees – Action by Hon. Ntimama, the Maasai people, and Hon. Sally Kosgei
4. Appoint two more assistant ministers – both women, one to the Ministry of Finance and another one to the Ministry of Agriculture. Why are women being locked out of the Ministry of Finance? Why is a large ministry like Finance having only one assistant minister. The new Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture will be responsible for food security.
FINAL COMMENT: When I first saw the list of Cabinet ministers in the Standard, two things struck me immediately, namely: (a) The Cabinet is huge and (b) ODM has landed a genuine 50% share of government. Forget about Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Justice being retained by PNU. Hon. Raila Odinga has it all. He has all his Pentagon members in the Cabinet. He has both Sally Kosge and Henry Kosgei in the Cabinet. He has all his weapons to run the government with Kibaki. The thing that Raila must do now is endear himself, throough hard work, to Kenyans and the international community.
The biggest loser is Kalonzo Musyoka. He betrayed Kenyans. He is in the process of being betrayed himself as Uhuru positions himself for a titanic battle with Raila whenever the next war is declared.

1. President Mwai Kibaki and PM Raila Odinga, appoint an Assistant Minister in charge of food in the ministry of Agriculture. The Assistant Minister, a woman, will be in charge of food security – food availability and affordability. The hottest issue in the world right now is food crisis.

The purpose of politics is to develop the country and to better the lives of the citizens. The war between kibaki and Raila has been going on for far too long and the peoples business has suffered. Let us give politics a break for even two years while we do some peoples business for a change. If it up to me, Raila would be president today but I believe if he was meant to be, he will be. Raila has won some and kibaki has won some. I remember when Kibaki reneged on the promise to name Raila PM back in 2003, well he just named Raila PM five years later. Raila can count that as a win. Kibaki can also claim a win because he is still president.

MAKE PROTOCOL CHANGES NOW:
1. The Chief of Protocol and indeed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must introduce changes to the existing protocol rules to take into account the PM.
Dignitaries visiting Kenya to see the Kenyan leadership (President) must also call on, before or after (the protocol experts should determine the order), the PM.
2. Bilateral and multilateral discussions between Kenya and other countries must involve the PM, as the head of the Kenyan side, with the Minister involved being a participant and/or secretary
3. Any loan or grant given to Kenya must have a new set of documents for the PM and a line for the PM’s signature. Disbursement of monies to Kenya and related legal documents must have extra copies for the PM’s office.
3. A copy of records of loan repayments must be availed to the PM’s office. The PM must have a record of monies received or paid by the government.
4. The Auditor General and the Paymaster General must keep the PM informed regularly of all major financial transactions going on in government

PENDING BUSINESS FOR PRESIDENT KIBAKI AND PM RAILA:
1. NESC: Appoint new members (preferably nine) to the National Economic and Social Council. Four members will come from ODM and four memebers will come from PNU.
Lynda Chalker a member of Kenya’s NESC. there is another one – a non-Kenyan based in the USA. This is a joke. Kenyans resident in Kenya are best placed to deal with issues affecting Kenyans.
The four members will be the co-authors of the ODM and PNU manisfestos respectively and will be not be the sitting MPs. The Chair of the NESC should be somebody neutral like Prof. T. Ryan, who once served as Economic or Financial Secretary during President Moi’s time.
The NESC and the Ministry of Planning, Development and Vision 2030 should publish a quarterly report in the media – newspapers and broadcasting – so that Kenyans can follow what they are doing.
No one is impressed by loaded names but by results.
2. Appoint TWO new women assistant ministers: Prof. Kamar to be the assistant minister for agriculture in charge of food security and nominated MP Amina Abdallah as the assistant minister for finance. There is no law in Kenya that says that MPS from neighbouring consituencies cannot serve in the same ministry.
Women in Kenya should be given responsibilities irrespective of other considerations. Who can serve better on the issue of food security than a woman. In every homestead, the mother of the home is the one always making sure that food was not wasted and that there was some put away for lean times.
In a Cabinet of 42, what further damage can be done by adding two more women assistant ministers to make the total number of women serving as 15.
Although the assistant minister for food will be domiciled in the minsitry of agriculture, she will be a roving assistant minister serving the special programmes ministry as well as the ministry of public health.
3. Hon. Raila Odinga, you did very well in the Cabinet appointments. I noticed that Hon. Sally Kosgei appears last on the list of Cabinet members. It is as if she was added as an addendum. It looks like somebody wanted to leave her out but PM Raila fought hard for her. Thanks, Mr. PM.
In terms of expertise, neither you nor Hon. Oburu Odinga are schooled in the matters of finance. I request you PM Raila to utilize the expertise of Hon. Okemo in matters of finance. Hon. Okemo should serve as the chair of the finance committee in parliament.
Hon. Raila Odinga should have an office next to his for Hon. Chris Okemo to use for preparing executive summaries for the PM on financial issues – financial solicitations and agreements, financial transactions and the goings-on in the paymaster general’s office and in Central Bank.
Hon. Raila Odinga, do not overwhelm yourself with responsibilities. Delegate and for every major decision affecting Kenya, have a second opinion. While the minister for finanace (you cannot supervise in the dark), Mr. Amos Kimunya, is required to brief you regularly by law, you need a second opinion.
That second opinion will come from Hon. Chris Okemo. There will be continuity for him to serve as minister for finance when Raila becomes the president.
4. I believe that Kenyans are comfortable to have the current PS in the ministry of finance continue to serve in the ministry. He has served Kenya well and has not been involved in any controversies.

Can our ODM MPs impress upon this committee to hear out everything whether its rumor or not, then classify the information into verified, corroborated or unsubstantiated.
Most of the valuable information received in Kenya can easily be passed of as rumour but it usually turns out to have significant amounts of truth. Plus out of fear or reprisal and lack of resources most information can not be verified since documentary evidence would either compromise the security of the whistle-blower or require the individual to have expensive equipment. The election in Ghana and elsewhere else in Africa is normally between meat eaters and vegetable eaters. Mostly between the carnivorous and herbivores. And I say herbivores by forced circumstances not choice – cannot afford.
Often it is the carnivores who succeed. The herbivores many a time spend too much time grazing (looking down – trifle issues- or so I may call them , they are ur housekeepers, gatekeepers, the mechanic, plumber, clerk, cleaner, baby sitter, et al.
I will not dwell on the omivores – middle class of which journalists are included today. But my passing comment will only be in reference to the transition and their role. Ofen this class in Africa has failed and many a time pretended to stand up for pertinent issues affecting the herbivores…………they have triumphed only in their neglect of professional and ethical duties. Brothers and sisters. The electoral commission of Ghana is mainly constituted of omivores. Just like kenya they will be sent packing with bones like a pack of hyenas. Like an assassin they will murder with a pen.
So should everyone be a carnivore and stand on top of the pinnacle of power. A close study of predators will tell you otherwise. Hyenas often kill lion cubs to ensure that the there is a check in the number of meat eaters. If the hyenas don’t get you then the drought/famines/fire, natural disasters will……..in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa they are also called the cakivores (national cake) pivores (pie).
Stop voting and casting your votes for this well know class of ‘kleptocats’.
Be herbivores or omivores or even carnivores by choice – elect proven social workers. By this we must be true workers ourselves.

Well it is a matter of time, I wass pretty sure that the GCG wasnt going to last. We know Kibaki very well, Sometimes i wonder what sort of a man he is oe who cannot decide for himself, i feel sorry for him, but what we were after was to stop the wanton destruction of lives in January 2008 which Kibaki and the PNU brigade never seemed to have seen or acknowledge for they dont have the human heart, take for example Wenangula how he speaks, what about Poghisio, haha ….and don’t ever forget aka Mutua I mean these are as you may allow me to use this terms “clones in the circus” people who cant read signs in the wall and they purport to be future leaders.
