Can the converners go ahead and arrange for the debate.Kenyans will judge for themselves what unfolds after that. What an excellent proposition by KTN &BBC.
NB. The moderators should ban the repeation of words or sentenses, use of skunk language and use of words which dont make any meaning such as Pale Pale, Hivyo Hivyo,Hapa Hapa na kuregarega!!!By the way can KTN JIONI tell as the meaning of kuregarega and make a sentence using that word.It will be one of the most watched debate in the world i assure you.

  2. M'c Agwanda says:

We the public demand a public presidential debate so that we can personaly ask them a few questions which havent been answered for over five years
    1. Anglo Leasing(Fleasing) Scandal
    2. Goldenberg Scandal
    3. Artur Brothers Saga

The list is endless. Pliz tell KTN and BBC to go ahead we demand the debate YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!.

  3. daddy says:

    Yego
That’s funny lol. You know Kibakì has refused to agree to the debate. He knows that the only way he will contradict himself and lose millions of voters is to face questions from Kenyans. Let ODM continue pushing for the debate. In so doing, some voters will smell mischief on the part of PNU and cast their votes for ODM, with or without the debate.

  4. Njuguna Kariuki says:

A debate would be great. But, I dont think it right for Raila to debate with Kalonzos, Muirus, Ngethes, Nazlins etc etc. These are not in RO league.

Kibaki has to show up. But can he ever debate with RO even in his best form ?

If Kibaki cant show up then we wait till 2012 when RO will debate with his challengers- imagine Kalonzo and Uhuru debating with RO. How will the fair ????

  6. mamboodle says:

I will advice Raila to stop asking Kibaki for a live debate coz Kibaki does not even know the name of his ministers.

At some point he could not even remember his sons name.

Not only are we being ruled by the funniest looking president but the most unhealthy.

  7. Elizabeth says:

Mwa Kibaki should agree to this Public Debate! How else are we Kenyans going to get answers as to why he decided to bring hawkers back in town?

What about the Kuresoi killings that he is mum about? Arent these the same Kenyans who voted him in? He was in Rift Valley the other day, but turned his back on these people who are wounded with their families.

How else can a sensible sitting president wake up one morning and decide to break the traffic laws that were painfully and sucessfully implemented years back, in the name of campaigning? 30 plus peopel dying in 12 hours is not funny, these arent just numbers they are Kenyans.

Is Kibaki simply being cheeky here spoiling everything for Raila because he knows that he’s leaving office and he wants to hand over a tattered and bleeding nation?

Too many questions begging for answers here Mr. President!

And please Raila should only agree to this debate when Kibaki is here. Not Pius Muiru, not Ngethe and not Nazlin…… he does’nt belong in the same league with them just as mentioned above. These people have nothing to debate about and nothing to tell Kenyans.

  8. Stephen Were says:

Public debate will provide a real opportunity for the candidates to show clarity of mind and for Kenyans to get clarifications on the ‘grey areas’ of some of these parties manifestos, i.e candidates demonstrating that they know whats contained in the manifestos, what’s economic federalism?, how do you devolve resources, when’s the effective date of the 24hr economy, what do you mean to say your are rightous and so people will rejoice when you lead? etc

But I think the candidates should not share platform, but should in turn avail themselves to the public (date with the peole) and be scrutinised on their policies, facilitated by both local and international media/ experts.

  9. kip says:

    Mi ODM mukuleldo…

  10. Auki Ollows says:

The ONLY person Raila should debate with is Mwai Kibaki. The rest are a waste of his campaign time!

    MI ODM MUKULELDO!

  11. Auki Ollows says:

By the way, it is absolutely RIDICULOUS for the president’s minions to say that the president won’t debate because it is a ploy to intimidate him. How can the president FEAR that ANYONE can intimidate him? I think, if the president has fear of people in his country then we need to change him…

  12. faddie says:

i totally agree.while at it,kibaki should not be allowed to use electronic gargets.he might just decide to get help during the debate via satelite.you know like using those tiny earpieces to communicate with someone outside the room and get help.

  13. Philip (The Visitor) says:

This is a good idea. I’m sure this will be able to make presidents ber accountable to the people of Kenya. It will also assist the people of Kneya to make a wise choice after thoroughly scrutinising the presidential hopefuls. it will also assist in the improvement of democracy.

Kenya is like the heart of Africa. It has a good future that should not be destroyed. Development in Kenya should go hand in hand with democracy – what I call true and healthy democracy.

President should be the servant of the people of Kenya and not a seperate entity of higher rank than the people of Kenya. In this case therefore, since we are the ones who voted in/employed Kibaki, we arent suppose to request but we should demand Kibaki to appear in this public debate! Or else we sack him! Because that will be unethical and arrogance that should not be expected from an employee of Kenyans. Raila has done well and he has been appearing in our local stations, is it daily?

Though I’m giving warnings to Kibaki I know he won’t accept to participate in the debate. Hope Raila will win this election so that in December 2012 he’ll appear in the debate as the President of Kenya and he’ll have to answer our questions such as why he has only managed to make the economy grow by 17% and not 25% as we wanted, or his policy concerning immigrants to Kenya, or what is his policy concerning civil wars on several parts of Africa, since grading of presidential aspirants based on fight against corruption and poverty will be no more.

  14. Lexx says:

Hehe picture this EMK in a public debate now the way he did it in 2002??? i hope he wont dish out a districts as in he might decide to have BBC and KTN to be districts you know then going ahead to tell pple asante sana,or iyo ni utoto the way he told voters in kimilili he might be asked a question then he tell the media or the audience that hapo hapo or pale pale?EMK has nothing to offer guys but mine is simple bring it on and i hope BBC and KTN will push it to the extreme so that we have it live that is one debate that is a must watch i would like to see R.O make EMK sweat.one thing is clear pnu knows that they own kenyans alot then again we have so many unanswered questions that is why Noah Wekesa doesnt want EMK to take on R.O coz they know who is smarter and EMK doesnt know how to campaign he might utter some words then he loses votes that is if he has any.Am trying to img R.O posing a question to emk or emk trying to answer a question from the media or the audience he will for sure be placed in a box and he will quit or say a word that is not worth typing. we really need our candiates to go for a LIVE DEBATE.

  15. daddy says:

    Stephen,
I think MK and RAO should share platform just as they do in US. Raila should be able to ask MK questions and vise versa. The audience must be able to see the difference between the two personalities simulteniously. If at all, Agwambo has done enough of the sole debates and this time round we need them face to face. We want and must elect a credible president.

  16. dennis k. says:

Auki Ollows i agree with you kabisa… i was thinking the exact same thing. you’d think any contender for the presidency would relish the chance of a live debate with his/her opponents… just goes to show the sort of ‘leader’ kibaki is… backing down from a challenge is a sure sign of cowardice.. a very bad quality in a leader… cant really blame him though.. if he dared share a stage with raila any day anywhere his chances would be torn to shreds. raila would have him looking like a 5 year old. A debate would be very very welcome but i dont see any chance of it happening.

AGENT4CHANGE…. wsup with the t-shirts man? where can we purchase them? im getting tired of asking!

  17. Odieno says:

This debate is a MUST. I like the debate idea, can BBC & KTN push it? We need it, like the day before yesterday. Minions like Wekesa (this fellow is very shady, by the way) know very well that Mregarega has nothing substansive to offer Kenyans, but he just piggyrides.

  18. Barnabas ( Langata - Nairobi) says:

Mrega rega has shied off. He says the debate will be turned into a PAROCHIAL N BIASED ideas. Cant stand to the challenge. Lets carry on.

  19. Stephen Were says:

    Daddy,

Its has been clear for a long time MK is not in full control, so his handlers will not accept a live debate for fear of embarassment. But again refusing a public debate should send clear message to Kenyans that Kibaki’s presidency is obsolete. And as Auki says it will be a waste of campaign time sharing platform with jokers.

Raila has done it again. Hes raised the bar a step higher. I would urge him to go ahead and face the nation, even alone and prove to his people that hes diligent, disciplened, transparent and deserving…..

    GOOD MORNING KENYA!!!!!

  20. mumias says:

With MK having declined the invitation to a live debate. We should now apply the greatest pressure.
    1. He now lacks the moral authority to criticise ODM plans and ideas for government as he has refused a chance to face RO if he belived ODM’s agenda were unworkable
    2. He has shown himself to believe he is above the people who have elected him and that he still belongs in the ancient times were presidents are “king” and “unquestionable” and “unaccountable”
    3. ODM should then emphasis it will bring total change in leadership that is more accountable to the people and will promise to have a live debate in 6 months time before the referendum on a new constitution and for the next general election.
I find it incredulous to believe that MK feels that he is above a live debate whilst the most powerful man on earth the US president is subjected to such an event.
MK has lost a platform to defend his so called development and to attack what he has termed as unworkable pledges from ODM
    Let this be his “Waterloo”

  21. Otsiatso says:

But it happened already – in my dreams:

Louis Otieno [LO]: Welcome Kenyans to our first ever presidential debate pitting Rais Mtukufu Kibaki and his opponent, Raila aka tinga, aka, Hummer, aka nyundo aka Agwambo, aka…

Wakenya wenzangu mimi Emilio nawaomba omba kura hizo hizo zenuuu. Sasa wewe mtu mzima miaka hiyo hiyo yote yote umefanya nini? Wewe bure kabisa, pumbavu kabisa!
[in the background the handlers are unsucessfully making all sorts of signs to shut him up as they envision the votes “running” away..]
Ati wanasema mamluki na Anglo-leasing, mimi nilikula “mburi” ya nani – eh, Wanjui, “mburi niki na Kiswahili?” Lakini hata huyu Joe pumbavu sana. Ati who’s goat did I eat?

LO: Please Rais, Rais it is a debate not a press conference please finish so that Mr. Raila can also talk.

Rais: Lakini wewe kinyangarika, ati unaitwa nani? Mbotela? Ati debate? Kwanini hawakusema hivyo hivyo? Wapi Rusy?
Sasa mimi sina wakati ya hii upuzi.Wapi Rusy? Rusy!! Rusy – netothie. Hawa watu mavi ya kuku sana.

Lucy [Shoots up – momentarrily mistaken for a house mugumo tree decoration, because of the hat she is wearing] : Huyo Raira ni ndomo ndomo tu. Ati mamruki – hi ni kazi ya Wambui. She “wiro” know that mimi ni wa Nyeri. Twede my kashugwa nitakupa cocoa na biscuit urare. “Shuary!!”

Agwambo looks in disbelief, and mutters under his breathe “Kweli!”, as”Ka-Rusy” walks over slaps LO while asking “Who is your nyina? Eh, tero me who is your nyina, una uriza maswari gani wewe?”..and with that the debate is over…LO is in shock and loses his fake accent muttering: “..sually why, sually why yawa?”

Rais takes off, secret service following in his wake, Lucy holding his hand as she leads him one more time down the road to political oblivion.

  22. Lexx says:

Am here again the live debate issue is a must if it doesnt take place or a candidate pulls out or doesnt present themselves to the live thing they are not being real and they have nothing new to offer kenyans.i know EMK handlers know that EMK cant handle that coz kuna maswali kibao that he would be asked by the president in waiting that is R.O + the media and the audience i believe this is what kenyans want not going to every part of the country dishing out district?let me ask westerns guys now that kibaki is dishing out districts day in day out to you guys did you request for them and does it change a thing as in joblessness and poverty he should be telling kenyans what he has new for them like the way R.O has been doing. i look at freaks like Noah wekesa saying that we will intimidate the president!why the worry and the fear he should present himself to kenyan so that they can air there views that is what we want of our leaders when R.O becomes president i would expect him to meet the people not to issue title deeds and district, divisions but ask like in a classroom any questions or comments that is what i expect of R.O and that is why am in ODM FOR REAL CHANGE.

  23. The final whistle on the winner of the coming election will be decided on whether President Mwai Kibaki give-in or declines to the challenge posed by Raila Odinga for a live debate.

Kenyans deserve a live debate to scrutinise and bring out the main issues that the presidential candidates are promising them. Other than the promises, Kenyans need a stable president with a stable wife with sound mind and that can face the audience and respond to matters of the family, ethics, legal and economics.

These are some of the key pillars that bring out the true characters of a deserving presidential candidate. Kenyans may use such debates in future to provide a score sheet of the performance of the winning candidate.

All Kenyans deserve to participate in the presidential aspirant’s debate either as audiences or contributors. To achieve this goal, the debate should be streamed or broadcasted in all the electronic media in the country.

This will enable majority of the people to make informed judgment on their preferred candidate who can deliver them to the Promised Land regardless of their ethnic background.

This is a culture that must start in Kenya with the coming election. It will raise our level of democracy to another level never seen in any where in the world other than in America.

Kibaki has never ruled Kenya as a president maybe he did so as a vice president under Moi. The president assumed power after the near-fatal accident which interfered with his brain. His doctors have done a tremendous job keeping him alive, not as sound and helthy as before. Kibaki, I beg to pint out, was reduced to a shell, a hollow shell without anything inside it.

In the process, people like Lucy on one hand and Wambui on the other have since taken charge of the running of the government. The two decides on almost everything that happens in the country but Lucy has an upper hand. You recall mimi kama rais?

This explains why she also enjoys presidential immunity. You may recall how she abused the law by disrupting Diop’s party in Muthaiga some time in early May 2005. When the media reported the matter, she went berserk, harassing the journalists in the middle of the night until morning at the Nation centre. In the process, she slapped me, damaged my camera but refused to apologise when I demanded that she apologises.

You recall, the AG frustrated my case several times and eventually, they forced me out of the country when I refused to unconditionally withdraw the criminal case that I instituted against her.

And of course you recall the twin Atur saga and how they wreaked havoc in the country courtesy of the other one of Kibaki’s many powerful women.

So basically the country is being controlled by the cronies of two of Kibaki’s women.

It will be interesting to see how the president will respond to questions relating to some of these issues; especially his relationship with Wambui and why the tax payer’s money is being used to up-keep her concubine yet the Kenyan constitution does not allow for that kind of an arrangement.

  24. Juma Moses says:

Having a debate with MK and RO is unfair to the former, because he already has a problem expressing his ideologies. When you see MK talking you must ask yourself, what did we see 5 years ago? Who did we elect then? Indeed MK got in through the back door and it is evident as the countdown continues. He won’t avail himself…and therefore RO should keep doing what he’s been doing…selling his ideologies to the people of kenya. I like the MABADILIKO TIMES, that for me proves that what he is saying are not empty rhetorics. What is penned down is binding and RO has just done it with the publication.

People especially the learned class knows that something is terribly wrong with the PNU vehicle, and the scholars in PNU are afraid they are being exposed with the debate issue…lets keep druming it until the masses start asking why. And please lets not engage the kalonzos and the like for the debate because they are not in the premier league.

  25. Juma Minya says:

Surely, there is a great need to conduct the debate.
Kenyans have to ask themselves. If a man can go throughout the country campaigning, why not for a TV debate? Y is he fearing?
FOR SURE, KIBAKI IS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR KENYANS.
    MERSE UP……GIVE HIM POWER……SUFFER MOST……..

  26. Otsiatso says:

Now here is a Q that begs an answer from Emilio..Have we not being saying that there was a pact between Kibaki, Moi and Uhuru?
    Here is Biwott’s take

    http://www.eastandard.net/news/?id=1143978776

Meanwhile, former Keiyo South MP, Mr Nicholas Biwott, has explained why Kanu did not contest the presidency this year and instead supported Kibaki. …”Kanu will make a comeback in the presidential race in 2012 and we are optimistic that we shall recapture power,” Biwott said.

Keep up the pressure remind wananchi everyday about this MOU
    Isn’t that the point?

  27. Kawere says:

I am even surprised taht MK and his PNU team responded that they will not come to a live debate. Surely guys!! Give the mzee a break. This debate was something that I am certain he was not going to agree to. And now Mk has dug himself even more into trouble. Wuui! Man did anyone read the reasons why he cannot avail himself to a debate? My goodness! i thought that he lacked ideas but….my oh my….even a primary school debater will tell you those are not reasons to abscond a debate. A debate is there for wanaichi to judge you before the elections date. It is an opportunity for MK to sell us his goods. And all he has done is duck!!
I guess, in this point, ODM has already grabbed some undecided voters! That was a good move by the ODM team!! Always setting the agenda for this election.
Jamaa, get out and vot – Its only 15 more days!!

  28. Soldier says:

Kibaki ameshikwa na baridi aka haha. In simple Ameogopa!!!!

  29. tnk says:

PNU will try to downplay and belittle the debate in order to help Kibaki save face. You will hear some really strange reasoning as to why their is no need for him to appear in a debate. Mercifully we don’t hear much of its “his prerogative” rubbish.

Now here’s the deal as i see it

A fellow asks you for your money, but he does not want you to ask him why or what he’s going to do with your money. He has a vague proposal but it appears full of holes and furthermore he has not delivered in the past. Will you give him your money?

In the above paragraph, replace money with vote, proposal with manifesto or agenda.

  30. Soldier says:

I am a policeman, Michuki is forcing us to vote 4 Kibaki, but fact is most of us are out for change. Na Kura ni siri!!! we are tired of seeing our workmates being murderd with robbers due to lack of poor working materials. Statistics say that 98% of our workmates lives would have been saved if they had bullet proof jackets. The jackets are bought yearly but end up to people like Athurs or resold to criminals.

  31. tnk says:

Otsiatso, that article from EA is interesting reading, right at the top it says

Moi said Raila underrated the intelligence of Kenyans who had the constitutional mandate to elect their leaders every five years. “Everybody knows that Kenya is not a monarchy where power is handed over on a silver platter,” Moi told a rally at Tegea in Kuresoi, Molo District.

And now we ask, what was Project Uhuru 2002 all about? Wasn’t this a silver platter in every sense i.e him “giving presidency to Uhuru on a “silver platter” at Kasarani, rejected by Raila and other leaders, and then offering Project Uhuru on a “silver platter” to Kenyans but the convoluted package was decisively and overwhelmingly rejected by wananchi.

And now 2007 he tries the same, this time its Kibaki on the platter but with Uhuru still all over it. And once again we say NO. I think this Mzee does not learn.

  32. tnk says:

    soldier,

i give you a standing ovation for your stance. ODM secretariat take note. We continue to lose precious kenyan lives to crime and violence yet we have committed people ready to help out but with very scarce or non-existent resources. It pains when we hear of this and yet there’s about 1000 guys that can eat 1M lunch, money gotten from misuse of public resources. Stop this madness on 12/ 27/ 2007

  33. pabokenya says:

i really agree with kibaki for not coming to the debate. what answers would he give?why are only one jimbo occupying all important posts in his government?
what has he done with his son in law artur brothers commision?

u know kibaki would have just broken down and abused every1 pumbavu.

after all if kazi is everywhere for ple to see, then why can he go and tell us in a public debate, look i build KICC with anglo fleecing?

if i quote okwanyo, ‘am i not development’?

so i agree the president sud not come for the debate coz he will be greatly embarrased in front of the incoming president.

  34. pabokenya says:

if kibaki could atttend a 1million per plate party, why cant he then go and answer simple questions, just what his administration has done has kenyans butcher themselves in molo, kuresoi, mt elgon etc?

see u in the inside wanaa ODM on 28th in the statehouse

  35. jaugenya says:

Kibaki has just burned a good opportunity to display him self as a man and climb down from the fence, instead he has issued another statement through one of his many puppets as to why he will ot engage in a public debate, how absurd that in a modern world a whole president does not have the courage to defend his position on issues yet he tells us Kazi iendelee , which kazi?.I think all the candidates including Matiba’s should go ahead with the debate to put him to shame.

  36. Omuto says:

With time, we’re slowly geting to learn who is running this country. If a whole president cannot face his own people and his opponents on a live TV show, then we’re lost. WHY IS PRESIDENT KIBAKI AFRAID OF A PUBLIC DEBATE? IS THIS MAN NORMAL? SURELY, A SANE KENYAN IS BLINDLY GOING TO VOTE FOR A MAN WHO CANT LISTEN TO HIS (A KENYAN’S) LIVE QUESTIONS! NO! IF I WERE IN PUNU, THEN I WOULD BE PLANNING TO DEFECT TO A PARTY – NOT A COLLECTION OF CONFUSED PERSONALITY, FROM THE CAPTAIN DOWN TO THE SUPPORTERS. SURELY, WHY IS EMILIO AFRAID OF THE DEBATE?????

Can we have Raila take to the podium? Media houses, we’re waiting.

  37. mumias says:

    Attack Attack Attack Attack!
ODM should launch a press conference punching credibility of the president’s promises. This gives the ODM a superb platform to neutralise it.
We have to discredit the president and establish he has neither the moral authority nor conviction to deliver a clean government. As willing, as Kibaki is to enumerate his government’s success and take credit for it, he cannot then distance himself from its failures. He has to be consistent and it is hypocritical not do so.
    1. Where was he when Arthu brothers were running lose in the Airports, Runda, Standard, in government cars and with government papers. Is it not Raila who blew the whistle on the whole thing,
    2. Where was he when Anglo leasing contracts were being signed withing 2 years of his presidency on the grounds of fighting corruption? Ignorance is not an excuse, even after it became known Kibaki Never Acted.
    3. Where was he when Githongo needed his protection the most when he courageously investigated and detailed cases of corruption in his government and made him AWARE PERSONALLY? Forcing him to flee his country and seek refuge in a foreign land putting his whole family under threat
    4. Where was he when Kenya needed strong leadership to steer us into a new constitution?

These are the charges facing Kibaki. He has shown that he is a weak, insecure leader who puts the interest of the few in place of the 35 million Kenyans who entrusted him with the priviledge of leading them for the last 5 years.
Kenyans all over are saying we are no longer Pumbavus and we shall show you just how much we have become enlightened by giving you the ultimate verdict on your inability to fight corruption.

  38. dennis k says:

just seen the news and lucy kibaki has possibly handed us the best jamhuri day gift ever.. reports on ntv prime say she slapped an under secretary at a public function today. i mean for heavens sake what sort of a man is kibaki if he cant control his wife.. anyway, lucy’s act is sure to cost him dearly.maybe she’s a closet odm supporter. like someone said, odm is in the heart ama? anyway i thank her with all my heart for putting a very biig dent in kibaki’s campaign.

  39. dennis k says:

on the debate issue, any presidential candidate worth his salt would relish the opportunity of a live debate with his/her opponents. kibaki’s refusal just goes to show the sort of ‘leader’ he is. cowardice is a dangerous trait in a man.. more so one who is an elected president. cant say i really blame him though.. raila would have him and his advisors combined for dinner! he’d have them looking like a bunch of confused adolesents. no surprise then that he cant put a rein on his out of control wife. will he then be able to manage an entire nation with millions of women?

  40. tnk says:

haha, dennis could you post a link for those in diaspora.

maybe thats why Kibaki does not want a debate, slaps will be issued all round. now if kibaki is re-elected, i think she will personally visit all odm strongholds and slap each and every voter and just to be fair, a few PNU chaps like Tuju and Nyachae

  41. tnk says:

blog admin kindly delete my last comment, thank you

  42. dennis k says:

tnk the state house goons took the ntv news crew into a room and had them delete the tape.. fortunately there were lots of witnesses and ntv went with the story on their prime bulletin this evening. lol forgive kibaki for backing out of the debate.. maybe a certain someone told him not to and its in his best interests to avoid stinging slaps at all costs. he is an old man you know…

    thanks for the update Dennis

don’t mean to dwell on this issue but I really wonder, is this how she resolves family disputes by slapping say her children or members of her family or is this only for everyone else. everyone is talking about stopping electoral violence and violence in general, and then, wham baam, in comes lucy, so how is kibaki going to react to this?

as for mr clean, interesting reading this below

http://politics.nationmedia.com/inner.asp?pcat=NEWS&cat=TOP&sid=1034 and like i said in a previous post, rather than face the issue head on, he was unable to meet his odm-k candidate and prefered to avoid further tension due to “unavoidable circumstances”. That is a classic example of how to stay “clean”.

compare that with raila who met all those who won and lost fairly or otherwise and even went on ahead to their constituencies.

compare with kibaki who’s changed gear several times (at first it was no support for non PNU, then it changed to support all pro kibaki, then its support but no funds or resources, etc)

i read the article tmk.. its very heartwarming that the kenyan voter in genral is coming of age. its actually one of the main reasons im confident of an odm victory. the time for people voting issues rather than personalities is here. as for kibaki, i have suspected for a long time that this country is being run on the whims of a certain bad tempered lady and i must say all signs allude to this. scary stuff. not for much longer though.. ‘mr clean’ is another one all together, i cant take him seriously.. i think odm-k is just all about him staying relevant in ukambani. his one wish is to be positioned as ‘king of the kamba’ much like his mentor mulu mutisya was in order for him to negotiate with established governments. its exactly the sort of tribal thinking we are trying to kill off. it is a cancer and any leader attempting to take us back to the dark days of tribalism will have only himself to blame. musyoka doesnt have the balls for leadership.. at least not now. he should hone his skills and when, if ever he gets even half the qualities of raila, he can come and talk to us.

  46. Maru Kapkatet says:

Mwai Kibaki made a myriad of promises at this year’s Jamhuri Day, which is also his last, knowing very well that he will not be able to fulfil them even if he were to be elcted.

President Kibaki is a very weak leader and has absolutely no leverage over the new Kiambu mafia (Uncle George, Wanjui, Uhuru, Kimunya) who will always have their way.

Tell me, how can a man deliver on a promise when he cannot even control his own wife. Kibaki has fooled Kenyans for long that he is capable of leading. He cannot lead. He cannot lead his family. He cannot lead Kenya. While Kibaki was reading his thousand-and-one promises (Kibaki has never been a promise-keeper), Lucy must have been looking at the throng of wananchi who came to celebrate their country’s republican day with disdain.

The slapping of a civil servant at State House was not a spur-of-the-moment thing by Lucy Kibaki but was pre-medidated carrying on from some anger that she must have left Nyayo stadium with.

Mr. Kibaki, for once, spare Kenyans of emabrassment from your wife, Lucy. The wives of white settlers used to slap their Kenyan workers knowing very well that the gun was protecting them. How ironic it is that the wife of the president of Kenya is slapping an innocent Kenyan civil servant on the day that Kenyans are celebrating their independence and emancipation from humiliation by the wives of white settlers.

Some months ago, a mercenary slapped a Kenyan civil servant at the JKIA. How many times must Kenyans bear humiliation and physical pain at the hands of their leader. Kibaki never uttered a word in disgust. The mercenaries were alleged to be Kibaki’s potential in-laws. It was another case of humiliation that could be linked to the Kibaki family.

Kibaki has failed to protect Kenyans from stoppable ethnic clashes, he has failed to protect Kenyans from mercenaries, he has failed to protect Kenyans from Mungiki. At minimum, can’t Kibaki protect us from his crazy wife? Lucy can walk the streets of Nairobi in pyjamas every night if she so wishes but she should not humiliate civil servants and indeed any human being using her position.

  47. OPADO says:

    KIBAKI IS A MALADY.APOMPIER PYROMANE.

  48. Otsiatso says:

Did I not say that I dreamt about the debate, the only twist is kumbe it was the state house dinner I was dreaming of, Lucy slapping folks left ad right – read my debate dream above.
ODM could not have scripted a better PNU campaign implosion. Now if she can only slap some sense into Baba Jimmy.. ooops, my bad, story is there is a history there and that is why he keeps repeating words..legend has it that if you repeat, “woooi, woooi!!” as you are slapped you end up with “repeatalitis” – an affliction of repeating yourself..

    Happy slappy Jamhuri day!!!

  49. Ogundipe says:

Kibaki has lost it and his artchitects must be having headeche right now on how to pull this one off. Let our campaign strategists capitalize on this incident big time! it is the right timing to expose Kibaki as a weak man, and that actually he has only been pretending all along. Thank God it happened today, our independence day!!! Even nature is against Kibakis re-election. It is a bad omen for such a thing to happen on a big day! Kibaki must know that Kenyans have discovered his true weakness and not keen to keep him any longer as their leader. Let real men, and I mean Agwambo should take over leadership.

  50. Juma Moses says:

For those who know lucy wambui…oops kibaki, this is not a strange occurence! Infact my worry is for MK who saw it all happen. How will he undo that one, i wonder but then again he has ignored it before only that this time it is a home stretch. ODM and especially the president in waiting should let his leutenants handle this.

I like the way RO is engaging his opponents and especially of late. PNU guys dont know what else to throw at him without the fear of backfiring. With only 2 weeks to go, RO seems to have just began..he is so fresh and very level headed in approach to issues. His district to district plan approach to specific issues has caught his opponents off guard. Keep it up RO the whole country is rooting for you in a big way…again this election victory has been handed to you just stay on course…dont be distructed by the falling apart of PNU, or the side shows of Kalonzo. We in the diaspora congratulate you in advance!

  51. tnk says:

maybe thats what nyamweya meant about sensitizing people to developments,

it goes like this, ” .. hey you moron ( pumbavu ) cant you see the (potholed) road … slap slap..”

after such attention I imagine that most civil servants will immediately be sensitized to the “development projects”

feel sorry for guys rooting for kibaki, the politicians and moneybags can handle it, after all they cushion the effects with fat checks monthly, but the guys in central being cajoled for support, do they really turn a blind eye to this? this man they would like kenyans to respect is totally disrespected by the “better half”. so if that is the better half …..

  52. tnk says:

    here is the story

    http://www.eastandard.net/news/?id=1143978829

now the victim was whisked away rather than the perpetrator. talk about justice.
what a hoot. I hope kibaki took the occassion to once again introduce members of the first family.

and here is what I was talking about re: ringera and wako

    http://www.eastandard.net/news/?id=1143978828

wako will issue a rejoinder, both get paid x thousand, day after day, month after month, year after year. pattni still walks free, kamani, etc. why should a guy be paid millions to state what every kenyan knows? ODM should make it a point to remove this KACC guy immediately. its cheaper to appoint someone else than have this guy in office any longer. His achievements are like Kibakis, you need some special magnifying glass to track it. Oh and by the way he’s going after voters being bribed etc, thats the kind of work done by local police, his job is more for the bigger issues, which he conveniently blames wako for.

and in the meantime children and mothers and other kenyans continue to die due to lack of basic necessarites for treatable ailments and conditions.

i fear the three ODM-K top guys will perfect this game of running in circles.

  53. faith says:

ha ha ha ha he he he he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a nice indepence day celebrations Lucy slapping the MC infront of guest it shows we have a lunatic as a first lady she should stop being angry at everyone and deal with her marriage instead of loading it to us shame Lucy Shame on you as a first lady.Back to the ODM i want to ask agent for change when will Raila go to Central province to unveil the programme officially we need him there people on the ground need to hear the new dawn not the Mzee telling us that now if elected for the second term he will deal with corruption decisively kwani was he sleeping in the past five years when Angloleasing, artur brothers were looting us let us send the guy back home to continue sleeping like he does. Again guys sharpen your votes it is only about 2 weeks we need kenyans to come out in large numbers and vote.

  54. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

    Spot on Faith,

I want to see the Mabadiliko Times, Central Edition.R they available online? kindly let me know guys!

Hey, Civil servants be warned…do u still want ‘kazi ya kuzabwa makofi iendelee??’ I wonder. This lady is crazy aki. Just as Matere Kereri, uncle Moody and Emilio himself….eeh…and a fello called Muktah Diop. These are VIP’s n still she slapped them and more. What makes u think he won’t be worse AKIENDELEA in state house? She’s shaming us…Tabia mbaya!

My gosh kimunya…where did this man come from? I think fellow bloger Omuto may want to say this of him….’yeye ni mzandiki, kauleni na mdanganyifu!’

  55. Elizabeth says:

Hehee! Yawa… ahuhuu. What has become of Lucy? This woman has gone bananas. Lucy cannot even take a simple joke and totally lacks a sense of humour. Lady, dont I pitty Jimmy and the entire Kibaki Family? Lucy is giving women a bad name. Please save us from your madness, I wonder whether this first family has a consultant or even an advisor on how to carry out themselves in public. When did slapping of an under secretary, journalists and civil servants become the norm? We are living in a new world tafadhali Mama Lucy. Peleka hizo tabia zako mbaya za kuaibisha Mr. President to the safety of your home. If you have emotional problems, please learn how to deal with them in private. Kenyans have so many problems to deal with without having to add you on the list. You have become a burden to Kenyans as a first lady by now! Puh!

I want to also congratulate Mr. President for refusing to this public debate. HE HAS NOTHING TO TELL KENYANS. NOTHING after five years. Kibaki knows that Kenyans are not fools and so he cannot come and fool us on a live public debate.

  56. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

Emilio said jana that he’s going to nama a clean hand cabinet? he’s goind to name? as who? can he explain why he has a dirty one now?

And did u think he’d appear on live debate? he’d be minced meat by the first minute….Agwambo angemrarua thoroughly! Come to think of it….i’ve failed to make any sence of whatever MK says, ever since his inaugural speech! the man is so incoherent, uninspiring and utterly boring other that hapa hapa…pale pale…bure kabisa! so I honestly couldn’t have gotten anything of value.

BUT, I liked part of his speech yesterday, it went something like..
Yes….I see a Kenya of beautiful cities and robust infrastructure…
Yes….I see modern railways and subways…
    Yes….I see a Kenya with ultra-modern ICT systems…etc
….HE JUST CAME SHORT OF SAYING, And ALL THIS will be POSSIBLE With none other than RAILA And ODM!!!!!!

hey Kap, what is that Kalenjin phrase that means ‘ODM is in our heart????’ I also want to know how it’s pronounced!

    have a wonderful SLAP-FREE wednesday!!!

  57. pabokenya says:

its sad that we have a former first lady slapping ple, coz ida is taking the role in two weeks to bring dignity to the office.
his name is Mr Francis Musyimi, principal administration secretary in the Office of the President. he was also sacked after the incident.

its sad that instead of the outgoing president doing something to his marauding wife, he did nothing.how many ple ahev been slapped in that statehouse?
he even slapped a guy who works with steadman

  58. dennis k says:

hahaha mudekhere.. i watched the ‘clean hands’ speech with much amusement jana.. it actually means he will have a cabinet of 2 or 3.. this old man is delussional.. his cheap imitation of martin luther’s ‘i have a dream’ call was equally laughable.. it was a feeble attempt at potraying himself as a visionary.. we know the only vision he has is of ducking slaps! raila odinga? now there is a visionary for you.. kibaki should just man up and concede defeat now.. we can offer him employment at maendeleo ya wanaume… spousal abuse division.

  59. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

    pabokenya,

u mean the guy has been sacked? r u sure? what has become of this gava?

  60. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

    dennis,

    spare my stomach…am in stitches…
hey, need that kale phrase, pls pls…i’m doing a tatoo in thirty minutes!

  61. tnk says:

our “fast lady” is a “fist lady” thats why she’s come to be known as a “fights lady”.

temper tantrums and associated violence are an indicator of gross abuse of responsibility, rank, strength, seniority or other physical or social advantage. frank njenga needs to pay this family a visit when they retire in two weeks. ever notice how easy it is to loose temper with a person or object “under your control” but go to great lengths when faced by stronger rival. tell tale signs of weak minded individuals. note this comes on the day kibaki made pledges on security/freedom, welfare and job creation etc. with one slap a few hours later all three promises are broken for this one mwanachi/civil servant that was too dazed to follow what happened. it was probably an honest mistake unlike the brazen errors of the kibaki regime but hey…,

wonder how that gets explained away in church on sunday, humiliating a man that probably has people who look up to him.

  62. wiliams says:

“I see a Kenya with no slums, but cities and towns with tens of thousands of affordable rental houses and decent homes. I see most Kenyans living in clean, well planned and managed urban and rural settlements,” Kibaki said.
He envisioned a country with well-built and maintained roads, better ports, improved and new railways and excellent communications networks.

I liked this part of kibaki’s speech. For two reasons

    1. It came befor the Slaps.

    2. Kibaki has seen what will happen exactly in Kenya. the only thing he forgot to mention was that this dreams shall be realized under ODM

Does this guy have a copy of our manifesto, because it sounded like he was reading from it.

My Brother Otsiatso, am begining to like your dreams coz they seem to be coming true. Pleas dream for me who is gonna be our next leader of opposition.

    Lucy Acha! Acha!

    MI ODM MUKULELDO.

  63. dennis k says:

    Mudekhere.. MI ODM MUKULELDO..
Tnk… nice one.. ‘fist lady’ lol!

  64. dennis k says:

meanwhile, i appeal to mrs ida odinga to give our ‘fist lady’ some tips on how a first lady should behave.. just so that she lives out her remaining 15 days in state house with some dignity.. i understand that it will be like teaching a three year old rocket science lakini for the sake of mzee kibaki’s peace of mind during retirement, kindly give her one or two tips.

  65. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

    Thanks guys, MI ODM MUKULELDO!!!

Now, if the slapped officer has been sacked for what appears to be a genuine mistake, what should kenyans do to a man who’s slept on the job for 5yrs with a myriad of gaffes and serious unshamed plunder of public resources?

  66. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

    Dreamer of Dreams!

Pls dream for us The ‘fist lady’s’ next job???? She’s a disgrace to our nation! A friends has just texted me from Kampala saying ‘your mama has done it again! M7 can’t take that lightly!’

  67. dennis k says:

mudekhere, its very embarrasing for us man.. we are the laughing stock of our east african brothers! the ‘fist lady’ should come back as a city council askari.. complete with the uniform.. her battle skills can be put to good use dealing with hawkers and the like.. si we were looking to create 500,000 jobs? hey thats one less!

  68. daddy says:

Lucy has done ODM a great favour. Friends who were undecided are trooping in in large numbers. Did we say that the MC was sacked? Can we have him say how he was shocked to be sacked simply because of a slip of the tongue? Could we ask at a press conference why he was sacked yet uncle Mudi was not? We should strongly question the acts of thìs first lady and the inability of Kibaki to keep Lucy under control.

  69. Mike says:

    Things fall apart

“Msipo mchagua huyu Rais tena mtalia na jicho moja mkifunga hiyo ingine” This is what she told the people of Western on her recent trip there. Am now beginning to see clearly what she meant. Her former employees will receive a thorough beating for not doing enough.
I think she is an excess baggage to State House, the civil service and the entire nation. Can Maru or Kip or Yego remind us of the song of the week in Kass fm in praise of Ida. What are the women in the village saying because it is something that needs prayers.

  70. dennis k says:

daddy.. first and foremost, this gentleman was assaulted and therefore lucy kibaki should face criminal charges in a court of law. secondly, his lawyers should press for unfair dismissal. he should sue them for all they are worth. this lady is out of control. first lady or not, she has absolutely no right to go around beating kenyan citizens as she pleases. she belongs in the barbaric stone age. kenya and its people is not any individual’s personal property. disgusting behaviour!! the quicker this man kibaki and his unruly clan are out of state house the better.

  71. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

I agree entirely! Lucy should be arrested and charged for assault! Can human rights lawyers or maendeleo ya wanaume, or even FIDA take up this issue b4 the pentagon steps in over his reinstatement?

  72. faith says:

Why should the MC be sacked if say my name is Faith Nyambura and somone accidentaly calls me Faith Wairimu should i slap the guy for that it shows that Lucy is mentally unfit to be a first lady.My fellow kenyans we should just see the writing on the wall Kibaki has never been in charge of this nation but Lucy and so this time round we will elect a real president Raila Amolo Odinga and with him Ida Odinga not to be the defacto head of state but the first lady to be an example of motherhood to the nation that is why we call them “mama wa taifa” it is a honourable post which should be carried with dignityand humility.

  73. benjamin says:

    Faith

You are absolutely right Lucy doesn’t deserve to be called first lady is that how a lady should behave infront of dignitaries we are sick of this unpalatable behavour and then Kibaki just allows for the guy to be sacked wote washindwe we will show them dust come 27tth by the way i cant wait for tomorrow bloggers it will be the BOMB!!!!!!!!!.

  74. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

honestly, this lady has lost it….she needs help; and that is to kick her out of state house…Again, Emilio sees no evil, hears no even…he nedds too. WAENDE!!!!!!!

  75. Mudekhere Owiti Silas says:

honestly, this lady has lost it….she needs help; and that is to kick her out of state house…Again, Emilio sees no evil, hears no evil…he nedds too. WAENDE!!!!!!!

  76. dmexpert says:

Public debate is the best way to gauge how the three presidential candidates fair. And of course without saying anything much, Raila would emerge victorious on such a debate. He is eloquent and has the facts at his fingertips. I hope such a debate can be aired live for Kenyans to gauge for themselves.

  77. madi sheeyumbe says:

    Ladies and gentlemen,

The incident that happened in state house is a wake up call to the rest of the nation who have not gotten the inspiration from the almighty Lord. God has his hand in all our affairs more specifically the election of 2007. Kenyans are being rewarded for their patience. Many more blunders will be noticed before the general election. more serious issues and shame will come out by the grace of the lord , so serious that will make even the ardent supporters of the party of national unity not to come vote on the material day.
Our leader in the party of reform that is ODM IS a BLESSSING to the entire nation and the rest of AFRICA.
WHEN THE HAND OF MAN HAS FAILED, THE HAND OF GOD INTERVENS.

  78. Maru Kapkatet says:

Some of Kibaki’s support may just be air. Kibaki is almost certain that over 90% of Kikuyus will vote for him and in his estimate this will bring him about 4 million votes.

Will every voting Kikuyu cast his or her vote for Kibaki? I doubt it. The story I have heard is that there are many Kikuyus from Muranga, Nairobi, and Kiambu who will vote for Kenneth Matiba as long as that name is on the ballot paper.

These voters will stand by Matiba, however frail or incapacitated he is, as they believe that had the Moi government not detained Matiba in 1990, Matiba may be as healthy and strong as Kibaki and Moi and could be travelling the breadth and length of Kenya soliciting for votes.

To these loyal Matiba supporters, the working together of Moi and Kibaki or is it the working of Kibaki under Moi’s guidance is an insult to them. To them, voting for Kibaki is like voting for Moi and thus saying “Thank you very much, Mzee Moi, for detaining our Kenneth Matiba at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, where he had a stroke”.

Where would Kenya be today if Mr. Matiba had used his business prowess to run Kenya? As Moi campaigns for Kibaki and hence against Matiba, Moi is propagating the fight he launched against Matiba when the latter started nursing ambitions to lead Kenya.

How can one convince the supporters of Matiba to separate Kibaki from Moi when the two are intertwined? How can one vote for Kibaki and claim that he/she was not doing what Moi wanted?

This may be the last presidentail vote, Mr. Kenneth Matiba will be on. To his supporters, I say stand by him.

  79. Akinyi says:

Cant wait for 27th when we officialy kick Kibaki na Kilucy from state house. Kilucy is a disgrace to kenyan women. We will welcome cool, calm and collected Ida Odinga to be the mama wa taifa.

How is Ngilu doing in Kitui? please pentagon plan to visit Ngilu’s home turf to boost her chances, we have not campained in ukambani, I know there are some people not going for the ‘Wiver’ Wiper and lets also go back to the coast and paint it orange.

Did you guys watch Louis otieno Live jana. Kenyan’s trully yearn for real change.

    Chungwa Moja Maisha Bora

  80. David Rogo says:

Kibaki cant handle a debate…he is not capable …the kibaki today is not as sharp as Kibaki in 2002.Raila wud make mincemeat of him in a debate…But Public debates are necessary

  81. Auki Ollows says:

A humour sms doing the rounds: “Wisconsin, USA: (It can now be revealed) Cunning Kenyan politician Raila Odinga met staunch ODM supporters First Lady Lucy Kibaki and government operative Francis Musyimi late into Tuesday night to plan the stage managed Jamhuri Day fracas…”

    MI ODM MUKULELDO! RAILA SASA!

  82. hanningtone says:

oh may!is cowardice a leadership quality?oh no.That kibaki turns down a live debate challenge from Agwambo shows the extend with which ODM is a threat to PNU.We moreso expect both parties to field quarries from us therefore even raila is no exceptional.come on kibaki, its BBC and KTN that will host the debate and not raila so how shall he for heavens sake intimidate you?we only want to know you people are going to achieve the heaven on earth that you are promising awokened kenyans. Why not the previous five years?no, you’ll go!

  83. CALEB ESSSAJEE says:

    BROTHER RAILA ODINGA!

ONE CAN IMAGINE WHY I CALL YOU A BROTHER WHEN I AM NOT EVEN A LUO!

WELL,I HAVE KNOWN YOU ALL FROM YOUR FATHER,YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS!
YOU ARE ALL JOLLY GOOD FELLOWS!
AND MOST OF IT,YOU ARE FULL OF JUST MINDS!
MINDS FULL OF LOVE AND JUSTICE AS YOUR SHIELD AND DEFENDER NOT ONLY FOR YOURSELVES BUT EVERYONE!

WE LOVED YOU AS A KENYAN BROTHER DESPITE OF YOUR TRIBE OR ETHNIC GROUP YOU BELONGED TO!

YOU DREAMT AND YOU SHARED YOUR DREAM WITH US!
YOU BELIEVED IN YOURSELF, HAD CONFIDENCE! AND WE, BELIEVED AND STILL BELIEVE IN YOU!

WITH YOU ON OUR SIDE,WE WILL WIN OUR INDEPENDENCE WHERE EVER THE STRUGGLE MAY LEAD US TO!

WE SACRIFICED DURING MOIS TIME AND PUT DOWN ONE PARTY SYSTEM TO BRING KIBAKI INTO POWER!

WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND BRING DOWN KIBAKI TO PUT YOU ON THE THRONE!
WE ELECTED YOU AS OUR PRESIDENT AND NO ONE WILL DEPRIEVE US OF THIS PRIDE AND RIGHT!

THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY WILL LEAD US TO THE PEACEFUL DEMOCRACY ENJOYED BY THE REST OF OUR WORLD ON OUR TOURIST PARADISE!

OUR PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED BUT BETRAYED BY ECK AND KIBAKI BUT GOD IS GREAT AND OUR LORD WILL SHOW US THE WAY!
    AMEN!

WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL LIVE AN EVERLASTING LIFE!
    AMEN!
