  1. MistaT says:

I expect the launch to stick to the issues rather than resort to insults and character assassination as was the case with the launch of PANU/PNU or whatever.

The build up should be the same as what we witnessed during the Nyayo stadium rally just before the refurendum. The supporters should match from every corner of the city, we need to see people on their feet matching to Uhuru park from Kibera, East lands, Kangemi, Mathare, Korogocho, Mukuru, Mlolongo, Kasarani, Dandora and every other place.

The anthems should be perfected during this matches with the real action to climax at uhuru park. The generals should be introduced to the crowd one by one, with Mama Rainbow being formally inducted into the pentagon.

    We shall win!

  2. Eric Munyasia says:

I think we should marshall all our supporters from around the country and the city, let it be as festive as possible and let us be issue based not threats and insults like what we saw during the PNU rally. This will be the Grand March in style,we may not have the money like our brothers on the other side but we have a heart for change and a committment to effect it.Let us use the opprtunity to show the world what ODM is made of.Go ODM!! GO !

  3. YAHYA WAFULA OJWANG says:

Listening to the so called PNU affliate party leaders speeches at the Nyayo stadium, there was utterly nothing to tell Kenyans rather than raging in arrogance and hate speech against the person of Raila. Is this what they want us to believe and follow them. When their boss Kibaki talks of campaign about issues they spent the whole time talking Raila!.If Kenyans have said Raila for President nothing will change unless these fellows in the guise of PNU change tactic. It is enough with this colonial mentality of thinking that if you talk rage everyone around will shake in fear. ODM bandwagon has made clear on what it is upto and we wait for more come saturday. How I pray that the ODM team do not express mediocrity by expressing hate and anger to Kenyans in the name of hitting back to nonsense. Point out issues that matter to Kenyans, and “wenye wivu wajinyonge!” Keep focussed ODM, do not be side tracked by hate speech against you, the masses are behind you.God bless Kenya,God bless ODM!!!!!!!!!

  4. Duncan says:

When a cheetah enters a homestead, the dogs run as far as they can and bark to high heaven hoping for someone to listen. The dogs acknowledge the cheetah as a superior foe and run out of ideas on how to attack it.This was the PNU over the weekend.

Come this weekend I expect all the supporters of ODM to converge at Uhuru Park to show exactly why the PNU is cowering in its boots,so to speak.
I myself will be among those going to the park because I subscribe to the Pentagon vision for my country.I may not have suffered like the Honourable President to be but I recognize and appreciate his efforts and those of his team to ensure that we liberate ourselves from the yoke of oppression in all its forms.

I foresee a significant rise of hate propaganda against the ODM and its elements in the coming months and I ask that we do not loose sight of our goal.I urge you all to tell our ODM brothers and sisters as much.

I would also like to ask ODM to send ODM K an olive branch and make ODM look as magnanimous and forgiving as possible. It may seem as no point but I think it scores with the electorate.

All in all Gather the troops for the day of reckoning is near!!

    God bless Kenya,God bless ODM!!

  5. Jeff says:

GO ODM GO, LET THSI TSUNAMI BE BIGGER THAN THE REFERENDUM ONE WAS!

  6. silas says:

Eh!!! I just cannot imagine. But it definitely will be the biggest gathering of people ever seen in Nairobi. I suggest that the Pentagon members come with a copter coz the dais will be inaccessible.

Please speakers, don’t retaliate the war of words the old men waged on Agwambo at the PNU rally. Lets show them mature and sober politics. I personally think they are campaigning for us whenever they open their mouths to say anything in public coz rarely does ODM and its captain go unmentioned. So lets be wise!!!

I have heard people talk of the euphoria of 1992 where the opposition was poised to win but didn’t. The problem, it is said, is that the opposition after sensing victory relaxed in their vigor on campaigns. Please Captain and your team lead us all the way. Hadi tu make sure tuko huko “STATO”.

  7. I expect fireworks of all sorts to usher in a New Era, the golden epoch so to say in Kenyan politics. I do not expect stone throwing though, it is a characteristic of the vegetative nature-the like that we witnessed in South Mugirango.
I expect all Kenyans who understand better the history of our beloved country to come out in multitudes saying we want to end the tyranny of the few aristocrats who eat and drink on our blood as we toil for their leisure.
I expect somebody from Pentagon to answer Nyachae and indeed tell all kenyans that the differences between the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga (may his soul rest in eternal peace and his dream come true in Kenya) and Kenyatta were ideological and not tribal. The difference between ODM/Pentagon and PNU/PANU/NARC KENYA/DP etc is not Raila but idology and issues.
I expect the pentagon to discuss issues; unemployment, insecurity, tribalism and nepotism, tribal or sectarian goons, infrastructure, farming, entrepreneurship, resources, bilateral and multilateral trade, tourism, desertification, immorality, the constitution and above all corruption which is a common denominator in most of those who are now funding the Kibaki tena re-election.
I want us to convince and not to coerce by instilling fear. Let us rise up above and be counted because as cleaners let us do our job better than Michael Angelo did his carvings even without pay-let us cleanse our beloved cradle Kenya. Let ODM be remembered forever in Kenya and the world while the King sleeps to the revolution.
I expect a peaceful and successful demonstration of what ODM government will be by end of december 2007!
Comrades in ODM, I salute you all and pray for you to stay firm and change the course of the kenyan river forever. Indeed for what God intended it!
    Viva ODM! Viva Kenya!

  8. Phillipo Ondako Maina says:

    1.LAUNCH AWOMEN’S PENTAGON OF:CHARITY NGILU,MARGERET WANJIRU,SALLY KOSGEY,MARERE MWACHAI AND MUMBI NGARU
    2.LAUNCH OF AYOUTH COUNCIL
    3.ADDRESS-INFRASTRUCTERE,EDUCATION,EMPLOYMENT,CONSTITUTION,DEVOLUTION,TRIBALISM.

  9. Phillipo Ondako Maina says:

WHY DONT WE HAVE EACH MEMBER OF THE PENTAGON READ THE PLAN FOR APARTICULAR ISSUE,INCLUDING MY CHOICE OF WOMEN PENTAGONS AND THEN HAVE HON.RAILA GIVE ASUMMARY OF ALL.(eg.Musalia addressing economy,Balala on youth, margerate on gender,Ruto on security,Ngilu on health,Nyaga on devolution etc)

  10. paul says:

i expect our pentagon to mention one or 2 things concerning the youth especially in sports, drama and music which can bring some money to the pockets of the youth. i want them to mention that they have a dream 2 support sports like football and see not one not 2 but many kenyan youths playing in big clubs like raila’s favorit Arsenal, chelsea, manchesta i bet if they mention this in the saturday rally the youth will be 100% behind them,
give the youth hope and we will be forever ODM damu.

  11. celine says:

I salute all the pentagon leaders in Jesus name. I would like to see a peaceful demonstration on 6th. Walikataa na uwanja thinking that sato haitafika. Wamekula huu na hasara juu. Sato has come!!!!!!! Twendeni tuwashow. Lets have love, peace and unity on that day. I would like the pentagon not to say anything about any one. Just let your supporters be sure of what you have for them in your smiley bags.

I hope our mama Rainbow will not miss that bus on 6th. The tickets are almost ……… Please advice her for me we love her. I am sure that we are going to win because God is with us.

Lets look at each an every person in the pentagon. All are brave, honest, upright, smart not forgeting hansome. I wish you all the best and may God who is the creator of heaven and earth make you and me reach the election date so as to vote for the team we all want. GO AHEAD GUYS.

  12. Dennis says:

The government side is definitely not for Euphoria because that is all what change requires. They are demonising togetherness as if each one of them stands alone. We should exercise their fears to the fullest and let them reap what they have sown.It is time for change and I believe the Odinga team knows best how to show it.We expect organized Euphoria minus violence. We do not expect any character association rather Odinga and our generals should have issues addressed.

  13. Patrick .b. says:

I expect to the PENTAGON to chart the final way forward for Kenyans. You’ve lived with us,slept with us,ate and drunk with us,slept hungry with us wlked naked for us,imprisoned for us and even went without food for us.Please do not insult the busy bodies in the name of PANU.Keep to your vision for Kenyans, lay your policies straight anad how the unreached will be reached especially the marginalized comunities in North Estern,Nyanza,Westrn Coast,Rift Valley and our brothers from Central. For sure all tis coutry needs equitably shares resources.School education should not just be free but quality and affordable,Investments locally and internationally, development of ports in Mombasa and Kisumu. The introduction of water transport at the lakes in Kenya,Objective rural electrification and water source management, rehabilitation of stalled local indusrties and infrastructure in Agriculture production areas in Kenya and finally attraction of foreighn investments not in forex alone but through lower power tarriffs to increase industries. As you may know, majority of industries are actually closing down due to power tarrifs and relocatting to the neighbouring Uganda and Tanzania. That is the least i can say.TO ODM SUPPORTERS,LET US DEMONSTRATE ALL PEACEFUL MEANS OF CAMPAIGNING.OUR LEADERS DEMONSTRATED THE SAME BY POSTPONING THEIR OUR UHURU PARK MEETING.
Thank you all and God bless you.

  14. Otsiatso says:

    1. The unveiling of the women pentagon team!
    2. The unveling of the women pentagon team!
    3. The unveiling of the women pentagon team!

Who? There are so many women who are qualified, they have to be progressive household names and not the usual recyled women politicians , pushed forward to placate women voters

The most disappointing part of the ODM platform reps. is that there is no woman. So I expect ODM to wise up and have women front and center. After all, the talk has been about change, isn’t it time the chauvinist political culture also changed – what a contrast that would from the Porojo Na Ukabila party.

  15. JaLuth MaSoKo says:

I expect nothing short of a political extravaganza of celebration, of fellowship and of ideas. The folks above have have said my piece quite eloquently so i will just reiterate with some emphasis on my concerns

-Adress issues both short and long term. Sound out broad themes. Crystallize and distill the campaign message into a few ideas that can be harped on CONSTANTLY by the Pentagone and their surrogates. These include Security, a new constitutional dispensation, equity, tackling corruption, advancing mechanisms of adressing past economic crimes, national healing and reconciliation, social justice issues and the usual bread and butter issues of jobs, housing, land reform, education, health care and other social programmes like care for the elderly etc.

-Stylistically, do not forget to have all the denominations represented when prayers are called, have a wide ethnic representation of speakers, avoid diatribe against PNU and find ways of energizing the base.

Can Raila call for presidential debates with the incumbent? Can he make this a clarion call for accountability? Can he use this issue to draw contrast with the present incumbent? Can he use this issue to put the incumbent on the defensive because I know for sure he will NOT accept debates. But wouldnt the wana nchi want to see them go mano a mano?

One last thing. Raila has to DELIVER ON HIS PROMISES. He has very, very little margin of error, and the Kenyan voters are becoming ruthless when it comes to kicking out office holders. The current incumbent is about to find out the hard way. Raila will have to pray and agonize over some very tough and unpopular decisions. As CEO he has to make those calls. I suggest Raila should consult widely, take his case directly to the masses time and time again, explain his position just so they understand where he is coming from.

May the almighty God bless ODM, PNU and the country!! We are at a cross road!!

  16. Otiff says:

ODM strategist – How about putting a satelite link to the focal points i.e. Mombasa, Kakamega, Eldoret Kericho, Nakuru, Garissa and others even in Nyeri. Kisumu is left out deliberately!!!. This will give ODmers chance to watch the events as they unfold as many may not have access to TV sets and fare to come to the city. The venues could be open places – stadiums etc.

“A stand can be made against invasion by an army; no stand can be made against invasion by an idea”

    And the IDEA is CHANGE.

  17. Ugas Mohamed says:

I think we need a campaign slogan that is quite catchy & to the point. I dont think we have seen anything of that sort yet,i could be wrong~

Most importantly,I will personally like to see Hon Raila Amollo to address poverty, especially a grand marshal plan to develop Northern Kenya.

Talk of national unity, national security and national development .Reconciliation, forgiveness, and the politics of hope and not fear mongering.

    DO NOT counter attack!!

  18. Ford Ongito says:

6th ODM Campaign Launch should be issue based rally. They must make sure at all cost that ODMers given a chance to address the rally must use civilised language. The Pentagon should address the following in their speeches.
    1. Education Policy
    2. Infrustructure
    3. Foreign Policy
    4. Governance
    5. Corruption
    6. Truth & Reconciliation Commission
    7. Mt Elgon Skirmishes
    and the main issue
    8. DEVOLUTION

  19. milele kenya says:

Here are some dos and don’ts for odm both on sixth and in their general campaigns.

    1. All speakers (especially Raila) should stick to issues and refrain from character assasination as witnessed in the pnu launch. This will give us a milage.

    2. Let us have strong representatives of special groups eg women, youth, muslims, disabled etc

    3. Let the leaders not give promises with deadlines that will be naturally difficult to meet or that will be largely dependent of our numbers in the tenth parliament. (constitution in six months?)Kenyans will judge them on this like they are now judging the current government.

    4. Let our leaders urge the langata contituents to refrain from violence (kibera) as this is giving odm’s opponents cheap publicity. I’d rather they stay away from the opponets rally as an alternative to violence. Tell them also not to sell their rights (voters card) at whatever cost. If possible the odm leaders should organize rallies in a langata, eldoret north and sabatia to pass this message.

    5. Concentrate on key issues where the narc govt. has failed eg security, corruption, constitution etc and tell kenyans how how they will tackle this issues should they form the next govt.

    6. Never go slow in their campaign rellying on the recent opinion polls

    BADO MAPAMBANO!!

  20. DUNCAN OJWANG says:

Let us vote our hopes (ODM), not our fear, like Moi and Pnu apprehending fear of chaose if ODM wins. Kenyan’s can not live in fear, we want hope.

  21. Otsiatso says:

Otiff suggested a satelite link – what a great idea! Can you imagine reaching Kenyans in Tononoka, Eldoret stadium, Afraha etc. simultaneously?
I also like the idea of Raila specifically condemning violence in Kibera at the national stage and then going to Kibera during the week to do so. Kiberians have to stop such barbaric acts. Livindo must be accorded the same democartic space as Raila is anywhere is the country, please please address this issue.

Finally, instead of the team streaming to the ground as one, a la Obako, how about dividing into five meeting points [Pentagon – eh?] in the Nairobi estates and leading wananchi to the park? Other than that keep it positive and festive.

  22. francis K. says:

Let us talk issues, ideas and development. we expect to here much from you guys rather than abuse and arrogance, we expect if not a repeat, more of what we witnessed during the Nyayo stadium rally just before the referendum. My advice is that “Balala apunguze hasira siku hiyo”. we should not worry or be influence by the PNU sunday meeting, let us show respect and braveness to the whole world. Raila Go!!!!!! for it. just defend you dignity.

  23. Doreen Atieno says:

I would like the Pentagon team elaborate on an issue on this day. Explain to the people and what you as a team will counter it. Please please do not go into insults and character assasination like the PNU group did. It is not worth it. Instead exhibit maturity and as usual the electrify the crowd with Bado Mapambano – May the Good Lord go before you!

  24. muchindo says:

I think the site as a campeign tool is great. However, I have an observation: The section on local issues where you click on own province to see Raila’s vision for the province, I think that it would be much more effective if the phrase:

“I will with your local leaders to tackle” was added just before the various issues are listed.

eg: Lack of Water, …and son.

  25. Janam Ndong says:

To all ODMers, lets come out in large numbers and match majestically and peacefully to Uhuru park. We are surely winning and the prophets of doom and those peddling fear and hate must surely be brought to shame come December.

The Pentagon should have a women wing, and it must reflect the diversity of our country.

ISSAK RABIN once said, “the pain that the candle undergoes gives light and warmth to those around it” and this – for sure – should be the main driving force for us in ODM. The PNU fellows will try to inflict pain, spread fear and wage a hate campaign against ODM but we must bare it all and remain calm but focused if we believe in the words of RABIN. Let us not engage in any ugly scenes that may paint ODM negatively but treat the insults and mediocre jokes with the contempt they deserve.

Remember hunters never rest, while resting, they are roasting.
GOD BLESS ODM and may HIS Mercy be upon all ODMers as we enter this crucial journey for change.

  26. ROBERT O. OSWAGO says:

I FEEL OK WITH THE PARTY CAMPEIGNS. NONETHELESS, MUCH NEEDS TO BE DONE TO CONTAIN THE LARGE NUMBER OF ASPIRANTS ESPECIALLY PARLIAMENTARY ASPIRANTS. IT WOULD BE IMPORTANT IF THEY FOLLOW THE SPIRIT SHOWN BY THE PENTAGON:-ACCEPT DEFEAT AND HELP BUILD THE PARTY. ADDITIONALLY, IN AREAS WHERE THE PARTY ENJOYS GREAT IN DEED MASSIVE SUPPORT, I THINK MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE ON VOTER EDUCATION AND VOTERS BE ENCOURAGED TO TURN UP IN BIG NUMBERS. GOING THROUGH THE LAST ELECTIONS VOTER TURNOUT AND REFERUNDUM I THINK MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAINTAIN THE TRENDS AND EVEN IMPROVE THE REFERUNDUM TURNOUTS.

FINALLY, I WISH TO DONATE MY TIME TO HELP IN THE CAMPEIGNS. I COULD BE OF GREAT HELP TO THE RESEARCH TEAM. I AM AVAILABLE PART OF OCTOBER AND THE WHOLE OF NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER. I ADMIRE THE PARTY’S ASPIRATIONS ESPECIALLY DEVOLUTION AND THE PROVIIONS OF THE NEW CONSTITUTIONAL DISPENSATION. IN THIS RESPECT I WOULD BE READY TO BE PART OF THE TEAM
